Apartments without heating can become dangerous: Ukrainians will face serious problems
As a result of massive attacks on energy infrastructure, many Ukrainians are forced to live in apartments without heating for a long time. This poses a serious threat to their health.
Former Deputy Minister of Health Natalia Lisnevska indicated on the air of “Den.LIVE” that constant stay in a cold apartment can significantly weaken the immune system, increasing the likelihood of diseases.
According to the specialist, living in conditions where people are forced to wear warm clothes even at home negatively affects their protective functions. The immunity of Ukrainians is already weakened due to stress and the consequences of the war, and the cold in apartments only worsens this situation.
Lisnevska noted that residents of houses without heating automatically fall into the high-risk category. Chronic hypothermia, along with a seasonal surge in SARS and adverse weather conditions, combined with unstable operation of the power system, can lead to an increase in the number of patients.
In the absence of heat, it is important to insulate the home, control indoor humidity, and not ignore the first signs of illness, as the cold can have long-term negative health consequences.
Earlier, the media reported that Ukrainians should get used to the cold, as heating will not be available in the capital in the near future. Various heating methods for apartments were also considered, including homemade “thermal capsules”. Information was also provided on the possibility of reimbursing expenses for illnesses caused by a lack of heat in homes.
