На початку лютого очікуються найбільші морози зими 2026 року

The coldest winter of 2026 is expected in early February

Forecasters warn of a sharp cold snap that will begin in Ukraine on February 1. Significant frosts, slippery roads, and strong winds are expected.

Natalka Didenko from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center noted that the air temperature will begin to drop on January 31. In most regions, the temperature will range from -2 to -8 degrees. Only in the south and southeast will slightly warmer indicators remain – up to +5 degrees.

Precipitation in the form of wet snow or rain is expected on the Left Bank, and local snowfalls are possible in the northern regions. In Kyiv, the temperature will drop to -5…-8 degrees. A sharp temperature change can make the roads especially slippery.

The greatest cold snap is expected in Ukraine from February 1 to 4. At night, the temperature may drop to -20…-28 degrees, in some places even lower.

The coldest weather is forecast for the northern territories, including the capital, where the peak frost period is expected on February 1-2. Strong northeasterly winds will complicate the situation.

A decrease in temperature is not expected before February 5. Until then, the entire country will remain under the influence of extremely cold air masses, which led to the announcement of a red level of danger.

Forecasters recommend that Ukrainians exercise caution, avoid prolonged outdoor exposure, and monitor weather forecasts.

After the severe frosts currently being observed, we should expect a short-term warming that will begin around January 22, when warm, humid air from the Atlantic will reduce the impact of Arctic cold.
