The minimum salary for doctors will be raised to 25,000 hryvnias
In 2026, financing of the medical sector of Ukraine reached a record level — 258.6 billion hryvnias were allocated from the state budget. This made it possible to introduce new wage standards and to abandon the strict binding to the Unified tariff grid.
From January 2026, the minimum salary for nurses and paramedics will be 25 thousand hryvnias, after which, after paying taxes, doctors will receive at least 19,250 hryvnias “clean”. For doctors of primary care and emergency care, the guaranteed income will be 35 thousand hryvnias.
The Parliament of Ukraine is considering draft law No. 14357, which proposes raising the minimum wage for doctors and medical personnel to 40,000 hryvnias to equalize payment conditions. In February, the draft law is studied by the relevant committees.
It is expected that the new requirements will significantly change the financial situation of employees in hospitals, utilities, and private clinics. According to personnel platforms, over the past year, average salaries in the medical industry have increased by approximately 14%, indicating a gradual improvement in working conditions.
Supporters of these changes believe that salary increases will help retain medical workers, reduce their outflow from the profession, and make the field more attractive to new professionals. This, in turn, can positively affect the quality of medical services in Ukraine.
If draft law #14357 is adopted, the labor payment system will become more unified, and the differences in salaries for medical personnel will significantly decrease, which, according to the initiative’s authors, should strengthen the entire health care system.
