The expert spoke about the need for a principled agreement to ensure Ukraine’s security guarantees

In particular, it is unknown whether the US is ready to respond to possible ceasefire violations by Russia by shooting down missiles threatening Ukraine. According to the president, this issue requires an urgent resolution because it is precisely such conditions that should be included in security guarantees.

“Clear agreements on security guarantees are needed. For example, closing the sky, similar to what happened over Israel, where the US helped neutralize Iranian missiles. We need the same conditions,” emphasizes expert Oleksandr Musienko.

He also emphasized that since the beginning of 2022, Ukraine has repeatedly appealed to its partners, calling for improvements to the air defense system and measures to protect against Russian shelling. Without this, there will be no real security guarantees.

“The guarantor countries must answer an important question. This is a difficult question, but only one. All other details are technical aspects. The main thing is whether you are ready for a possible confrontation with Russia. If the guarantors reach an agreement in principle, other issues will be resolved. If not, the question remains: what security guarantees will these be and what signal does this send to Moscow?” – summarizes Oleksandr Musienko.

He notes that the West, particularly the UK, is demonstrating stable support for Ukraine and is actively preparing for a possible military deployment, which is evident.
