Utility costs are quickly depleting Ukrainians’ budgets: which tariffs have increased?
Household spending on housing and communal services continues to grow, despite the slowdown in overall inflation. According to the State Statistics Service, annual inflation decreased to 7.4% in January 2026, down from 8% in December 2025. However, this did not prevent the increase in tariffs for communal services, which, according to a rough estimate, increased by 2.2% in annual terms.
The largest recorded increase concerns the management of apartment buildings – here, tariffs increased by 11.4%. The costs of garbage removal (by 3.5%) and housing maintenance and repair (by 3.1%) also increased.
Some tariff items remained unchanged, including prices for electricity, natural gas, hot water supply and heating, and water supply and sewage.
If we look at the monthly dynamics, from December 2025 to January 2026, only the costs of housing maintenance and repair increased by 0.6%. Other utility payments remained stable, which helped to restrain the overall increase in payment costs.
Earlier, it was reported on a possible increase in payment costs for some Ukrainians, as well as on new principles for setting water supply tariffs.
