The owner of the “Doomsday farm” shared tips on preparing for the apocalypse
In the UK, entrepreneur Peter Dow, at the age of 71, has created a “Doomsday farm” on 1,500 acres in Norfolk. This ambitious project is designed to ensure the survival of several hundred people in the face of possible global crises. The Daily Star reports this.
Dow notes that over time, the attitude towards his initiative has changed. If his ideas were once the subject of ridicule, today many people see them as a real alternative. The entrepreneur has been preparing for a possible social collapse for more than 20 years. Within the framework of the Beat the Bear project, he has implemented various agricultural solutions, including orchards and livestock, as well as dairy and meat production. According to his calculations, Dow claims the farm can feed up to 1,000 people.
The farm actively grows vegetables, practices organic farming without chemical fertilizers, produces alternative fuels, and recycles waste. The idea for such a project, according to the entrepreneur, arose amid concerns about climate change, economic difficulties, and political instability. Dow is sure that the growth of socio-economic problems can lead to serious negative consequences.
“At the beginning of my journey, many people believed that I had unhealthy ambitions. Now people understand that perhaps I was right,” he comments. Dow plans to invite others who share his views on preparing for crises to join the farm, provided they are ready for serious changes in their lives. The annual contribution for such participants can be from 10 to 100 thousand pounds, and the decision on the invitation will be made depending on the circumstances of instability.
Despite the threat of global conflict, Dow expresses concern about the rising debt burden and worsening economic situation. He urges people to develop personal emergency plans, as relying solely on government assistance can be dangerous. It is better to be prepared in advance than to be left without support at a critical moment.
