Oleksandr Usyk reacted sharply to the scandal during the match “Polissya” – “Dynamo”

World heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk expressed his opinion on the controversial match of the 19th round of the Ukrainian Premier League, in which Polissya lost to Dynamo Kyiv with a score of 1:2.

In his address recorded for Instagram, the boxer strongly condemned the refereeing and noted that such decisions can negatively affect the development of Ukrainian football.

Usyk supported the president of the Zhytomyr club, Gennady Butkevych, and the team, noting that they demonstrated great dedication. Still, the match result is overshadowed by events unrelated to the game itself.

“Yesterday you were incredible,” the athlete emphasized.

According to Usyk, the players played at maximum efficiency; however, in his opinion, the final score was distorted by the referees’ unacceptable decisions.

“I believe that with such refereeing, Ukrainian football can die. It is already on the verge, because a team that is growing and investing large resources is being destroyed,” Usyk emotionally expressed about the work of the referees, which caused heated debate among fans and club representatives.

In his opinion, such incidents can demotivate investors who finance club development and infrastructure.

Despite the harsh remarks about the arbitration, Usyk emphasized that he has no complaints against Dynamo: “I have no questions about Dynamo. I support this club, and I urge you to do everything possible so that Ukrainian football continues its development,” he added.

Interestingly, Usyk has a contract with Polissya and is even registered as a striker in the team. He already had the opportunity to take the field during a test match against a Major League Soccer team during winter training.

Recall that the president of Polissya Butkevych previously demanded a polygraph test for referees due to several controversial points, in particular, due to the cancellation of a Polissya goal and the lack of a red card for a hard foul by a Dynamo player.
