Klitschko, while awarding military personnel on Volunteer Day, noted that more than 100,000 veterans live in Kyiv and the same number of Kyiv residents are at the front.

Vitaliy Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, announced that another 100 thousand Kyiv residents continue to serve in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This became known during the ceremony of awarding military medals “Honor. Glory. State” on the eve of the Ukrainian Volunteer Day, which is celebrated in Ukraine.

“Among the Kyiv residents who returned from the front, there are more than 100 thousand combatants. And the same number of servicemen are still on duty, defending our country,” Klitschko emphasized.

He also noted that the capital’s community provides systematic support to the Ukrainian army, having allocated more than 12 billion hryvnias from last year’s budget for the purchase of drones, equipment, cars and other things necessary for the military.

“Kyiv actively supports the Security and Defense Forces. Over the past year, significant funds were allocated from the city budget to assist the military, in particular, for the purchase of drones and technical equipment,” the mayor noted.

Klitschko added that the city is also actively implementing programs to support veterans and their families, including financial payments, rehabilitation measures, legal assistance and employment support.

“We will always remember the exploits of our Defenders. Thanks to their courage and strength of spirit, we have the opportunity to build the future. Glory to Ukraine and its Heroes!” he emphasized.

Last year, the Kyiv community provided the front with almost 70 thousand drones and 350 electronic warfare systems, as well as much other equipment that is desperately needed to support the Ukrainian military.
