In Cherkasy, a former manager will be tried for illegal gas withdrawal worth UAH 17 million

The Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against the former acting chairman of the board of a joint-stock company, who is charged with abuse of power related to the use of natural gas.

According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2023, the company accumulated significant debts for the supplied natural gas. As a result, the state supplier excluded the company from the balancing group and stopped supplying the resource, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

Thus, the company lost the right to receive and distribute gas among its consumers.

Despite the fact that from June to September 2023, the company did not have valid supply contracts, the head did not take measures to resolve this situation. Instead, he organized the further use of gas by the company.

As a result of such actions, more than 900 thousand cubic meters of natural gas were illegally consumed from the gas distribution system, which led to losses for the state in the amount of more than 17 million hryvnias.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Also, two medical workers were identified in Vinnytsia, who are suspected of illegally registering disability for money. They are a family doctor of a private clinic and the head of a department of a city hospital.

According to the investigation, the doctor accepted patients for registration of disability and sent them for fake inpatient treatment to her colleague. After that, they prepared documents to obtain Group II disability for illegal gain. The receipt of 4,600 US dollars was documented.
