Anxiety has decreased in Ukraine and the feeling of happiness has increased, according to a KIIS study

The study indicates a decrease in anxiety among Ukrainians and an increase in the feeling of happiness and meaning in life. These changes, according to the researchers, are a consequence of the psychological adaptation of society to crisis conditions.

In the conditions of the ongoing war and socio-economic challenges in Ukraine, the evolution of the psychological state of the population is observed. The third wave of the pilot study of personal well-being, conducted by the Ruban Litvinova Social Impact Advisory agency in cooperation with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), showed positive changes in the feeling of happiness and a decrease in anxiety among Ukrainians.

According to the results, the level of life satisfaction remained stable at 5.4 points out of 10, while the feeling of meaning in life increased to 7.4 points. The happiness indicator increased to 6.1 points, and anxiety decreased to 4.8 points, which indicates a shift from a state of survival to a gradual psychological adaptation.

The study also revealed socio-demographic differences. Women demonstrate a higher level of sense of meaning in life, while men have more positive dynamics in satisfaction and happiness. The group of people aged 30-59 turned out to be the most stable. Internally displaced persons show a lower level of life satisfaction and higher anxiety, but they have an increase in their sense of meaning.

Residents of villages and small towns demonstrate better satisfaction indicators, which, according to researchers, is associated with a high level of social cohesion. In the eastern regions, where a high level of anxiety was previously recorded, the share of those dissatisfied with the quality of life decreased from 50% to 27%, and the indicator of meaning in life increased from 6.6 to 7.6 points.

The authors of the study emphasize that these results reflect not only individual changes, but also the overall resilience of Ukrainian society in times of crisis. In difficult circumstances, Ukrainians retain internal motivation and the ability to adapt to new conditions, which creates the basis for further positive changes in social well-being.

Also, a one and a half year old German shepherd, which was brought from France, is undergoing training at the National Guard in Cherkasy Region. The dog has already mastered the basic commands, is working on moving next to the dog handler and detaining violators. In a short period of joint work, he has become an integral part of the dog platoon.
