In Kyiv, a man was sentenced to 9 years for robbing a businessman of $57,500
A Kyiv court has found a local resident guilty of robbery committed by a group of people under martial law.
In the case, which was considered under the supervision of prosecutors from the Dnipro District Prosecutor’s Office, the court decided to sentence the accused to nine years in prison with confiscation of his property, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reported.
According to the case materials, in February 2023, the defendant involved two accomplices in the crime. At night, they illegally entered the premises of an entrepreneur who was engaged in the purchase of equipment, including generators.
When the victim entered the premises and opened the safe, the attackers stole 57,500 US dollars.
The man was found guilty of robbery committed by prior conspiracy and under martial law, on an especially large scale with penetration into someone else’s premises (Part 5 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He does not admit his guilt.
As for the other two participants in the crime, it was established that they are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The materials relating to them have been allocated to a separate criminal case.
Also, law enforcement officers have completed an investigation into a couple who, under the guise of helping to prepare documents for the release of servicemen, fraudulently extorted money from the relatives of the defenders. They are accused of fraud in the amount of more than one million hryvnias.
