Pension increase and UAH 1,500 supplement: who will receive more funds
In 2026, several innovations were implemented in the field of pension payments in Ukraine. Some citizens have already received an increase in pensions within the framework of planned indexation, and from April, recalculation will begin for those who continue to work after retirement. In addition, certain categories of the population will have the opportunity to receive one-time financial assistance.
From March 1, 2026, pension indexation took place, which for most pensioners amounted to 12.1%. This process was carried out automatically, without the need to submit applications. It is worth noting that the indexation includes only the basic amount of the pension – without taking into account supplements and allowances.
Increase limits have also been established: the minimum increase is 100 hryvnias, and the maximum is 2,595 hryvnias. The recalculation applies to the main types of pensions, including old-age, disability, survivor’s, and military pensions.
However, indexation does not apply to those whose pension has already reached the minimum guaranteed level, as well as those who receive maximum payments of UAH 25,950.
From April 1, 2026, recalculation will begin for working pensioners. Those who have accumulated 24 months of insurance experience after retirement will automatically receive an increase in payments.
In addition, the Pension Fund will conduct a recalculation for pensioners who have not had recalculations in the past two years, even if the experience is less than 24 months. New data on experience or salary will also be provided.
The government also decided to provide a one-time supplement of UAH 1,500 to pensioners and recipients of social benefits. These funds will be paid automatically – no application to the Pension Fund is required. The supplement will be transferred to a bank account or delivered by mail together with the pension.
This assistance will be provided to citizens who, as of April 1, 2026, had a pension or social assistance, if its amount does not exceed 25,950 hryvnias. This applies to old-age pensioners, persons with disabilities, military pensioners, victims of the Chernobyl disaster, internally displaced persons and low-income families.
Participants in hostilities, as well as family members of deceased or missing servicemen, will also receive the supplement, regardless of the amount of the pension. If a person is entitled to payment on several grounds, the money will be credited only once.
Separately, the Ministry of Social Policy warned that by April 1, 2026, some citizens must submit information to the Pension Fund that they do not receive a pension from Russia. This applies to persons who live in temporarily occupied territories or have left them. Untimely submission of such a notification may lead to suspension of payments.
