Strike on captured plant: Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant halts operations

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with units of the Defense Forces, carried out a second missile strike on the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant, which is under the control of the occupation forces and is used for military purposes. As a result of the attack, the plant’s activities were suspended.

According to official SBU sources, the operation was carried out by employees of the Third Department of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Donetsk and Luhansk regions in cooperation with the military of the 1st Separate Center of the Forces of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is the second strike on this facility in the past month.

According to the Ukrainian side, the plant’s products were supplied to the Russian enterprise Uralvagonzavod, which manufactures tanks and artillery systems for the Russian army.

At the established coordinates of critical production facilities, strikes were carried out by FP-2 drones of the Fire Point company. As a result, damage was caused to blast furnaces, production shops, gas pipelines, electrical substations and other elements of the infrastructure that ensure the functioning of the plant.

The Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant is located in the temporarily occupied Alchevsk in the Luhansk region. After the seizure of the territories, according to Ukrainian sources, the enterprise became part of the Russian military industry and is involved in the production of components for armored vehicles and artillery ammunition.

The Defense Forces stated that they would continue to strike at facilities supporting the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation, with the aim of reducing its capabilities in war.
