Control over pensions will be strengthened: possible suspension of payments announced

Ukraine is developing a new pension payment control system that will allow for more thorough monitoring of information about recipients. The main idea is to temporarily suspend payments in cases where the recipient’s data needs to be clarified.

This will not mean a reduction or cancellation of payments – it is only a technical pause until all necessary formalities are clarified.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine said that the new mechanism will work automatically, checking the relevance of such parameters as place of residence, status of the recipient and availability of documents. If there are discrepancies or outdated information, payments may be temporarily suspended. In this case, pensioners will be sent a message asking them to confirm their data.

This will especially affect citizens who have changed their place of residence, been abroad for a long time or missed periodic identification. The government emphasizes that the goal of the innovation is to reduce the likelihood of errors during the calculation of funds, avoid duplication of payments, and prevent situations where pensions are received by persons who do not actually live at the declared address.

After updating the necessary information, payments will resume automatically, and all funds for the pause period will be paid in full. In addition, most pensioners will be able to avoid personal visits to undergo this procedure, since most checks will be carried out through electronic registers. The introduction of the new mechanism is aimed at making the system more transparent and fair for all pension recipients.

It was also previously reported that pensioners will be given an additional payment of 900 hryvnias, as well as possible losses of years of service due to one detail, which may affect the amount of the pension. In addition, the parliament is planning a mass recalculation of pensions, which will affect many recipients.
