The reprieve is coming to an end: a lawyer warns former conscripts about the risks of mobilization
The deferral period that former conscripts received after their discharge from service will expire in June 2025. Military lawyer Darya Golodnyak announced this, emphasizing that everyone who received military summonses but did not submit documents for a deferral faces mobilization in the near future.
“If you have a military summons and have not yet submitted documents for a deferral, you may be called up for service starting in June. Failure to appear for a summons may result in criminal liability under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” she noted.
Golodnyak pointed out that former conscripts, even those not yet 25 years old, already have the status of those liable for military service. They are not subject to age restrictions that, for example, apply to ordinary civilian students.
“You cannot appeal to age as an ordinary bachelor does. After completing military service or a military department, you are already subject to military service,” the lawyer added.
She urged everyone who does not plan to serve to prepare documents in advance confirming the right to a deferment by Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine “On Mobilization Training and Mobilization” and apply to the CCK with a corresponding application.
Reserve officers who have completed a military department and persons with limited fitness for service are also at risk. According to Golodnyak, now even persons aged 22-23 can be called up to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
