The policewoman didn’t see a child at the crosswalk because she was on her phone: details of the incident
On April 29, 2025, at 4:20 p.m., a traffic accident occurred in Tatarbunary, injuring a seven-year-old girl, Sofia Sukholit. Information about the incident was published on Facebook by her mother, Tetyana Konovalyuk.
It turned out that police officer Alisa Markovich did not notice how she hit the child at the pedestrian crossing, as she was distracted by her mobile phone. According to the girl’s father, Oleksandr Sukholita, he witnessed the accident when the car dragged the girl for 11 meters.
Only after her father shouted did the driver stop, but she did not call an ambulance or the police, as required by law. Instead, she moved to the passenger seat. Later, after calling an ambulance, the girl was taken to the hospital.
The next day, Oleksandr Sukholita came to the police station to learn about the investigation, but disappeared. Tetyana filed a complaint on the 102 line, but within an hour, she did not receive any information about her husband’s whereabouts. It turned out that he had been mobilized and taken to the CCC.
In her appeal to society and law enforcement, Tetyana Valentynivna noted that her husband’s detention was illegal and could be related to pressure in the traffic accident case. She emphasized the family’s rights violation and called for an impartial investigation, threatening to contact the prosecutor’s office and human rights organizations in case of inaction.
