Assistance to Ukrainian pensioners from the UN: journalist shares figures

On her channel “Znay.ua,” journalist Kateryna Kotenkova reported on important aspects of the UN’s financial support for Ukraine’s population. This assistance is aimed at the most vulnerable categories of citizens. In particular, in 2025, the program remains active due to the country’s difficult economic situation. According to the Pension Fund, there are over 10 million pensioners in Ukraine.

As Kotenkova noted, to receive assistance, one must meet new criteria. In particular, this applies to persons who live in combat zones (including Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions), receive a pension not exceeding 3,250 hryvnias, and have not received financial assistance from international organizations since March 1, 2023. If at least one condition is not met, aid will not be provided, and payments may be terminated in the event of a change in the person’s status.

Kotenkova also indicated that in 2025, people with disabilities since childhood and children with disabilities were added to the list of those who can receive assistance. According to the Ministry of Social Policy representatives, the program will cover more than 130 thousand additional citizens.

This year’s assistance will be the difference between the actually received pension and the amount of 3,250 hryvnias. For example, if your pension is 2,500 hryvnias, you will receive assistance for 750 hryvnias for six months.
