The head of education of the Svyatoshynskyi RDA will be brought to court for damages during the renovation of an educational institution

The Svyatoshyn District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv has completed the investigation and sent an indictment to the court against the head of the Education Department of the Svyatoshyn District State Administration. The official is suspected of abuse of office, which led to significant budget losses, in accordance with Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, in October 2021, the Education Department and a contracting organization concluded a contract for more than 3 million hryvnias. These funds would be used to repair the ventilation system in one of the district schools.

The prosecutor’s office found that the official approved an estimate with inflated price tags for materials before receiving an expert opinion on the project. The department also failed to conduct a proper analysis of market prices when concluding the agreement.

As a result of these actions, the budget suffered losses of more than 600 thousand hryvnias during the repair work. The case is currently being taken to court, and the accused risks criminal liability for causing harm to the state.

In another case, Kyiv law enforcement officers detained a 19-year-old boy who, imitating a threat, attacked a currency exchange, considering it a joke. Investigators found out that the young man, covering his face, entered the exchange office and handed the cashier a note demanding that she immediately give out the money, threatening to explode. He claimed that he had only a few minutes left and threatened to climb over to the area where the cashier was.
