$1.5 million in the bushes: what is the estate of former People’s Deputy Khomutynnik near Kyiv
In the village of Kozyn, near Kyiv, lies a luxurious estate that once belonged to Vitalii Khomutynnik, one of the wealthiest former MPs of recent years. After he left Ukraine at the beginning of the full-scale war, the property was left completely unattended: the grounds became overgrown, old furniture was abandoned outdoors, and there has been no security presence. Despite its high market value, the estate now resembles a neglected, deserted property.
Khomutynnik owned a plot of over 70 ares (approximately 1.7 acres), which included the main house, a tennis court, a relaxation area, and private river access. Experts estimate the estate’s starting value at no less than $1.5 million, with the potential to rise to $2–2.2 million considering the interior design and features.
Kozyn is known for its expensive homes and high level of security, and properties there are typically well maintained. However, in the case of Khomutynnik’s estate, the situation is drastically different.
Investigations reveal that the property has gone unmaintained for at least two years. Garden furniture remains untouched since the time of the invasion. Clear signs of abandonment include the lack of residents or security, and the house’s outward appearance shows no signs of regular upkeep.
The neighborhood itself is also tainted by scandal. Nearby lives a relative of Volodymyr Skorobahach, a figure who has been involved in several investigations by the State Bureau of Investigation. These include allegations of attempted illegal border crossings.
Since Khomutynnik left Ukraine, there has been no information about the fate of his property. As of 2024–2025, the estate appears completely deserted — there are no signs of sale, lease, or transfer. The lack of visitors or use gives the impression that the owner does not plan to return soon and has effectively abandoned the property.
The story of this deserted mansion reflects a broader pattern. Vitalii Khomutynnik now resides in the United Kingdom, living a lavish lifestyle, driving luxury cars with fake license plates, and owning real estate in multiple countries. This indicates ongoing serious financial and legal issues that remain unresolved.
