A woman was detained in the Sumy region for trying to sell her child
Sumy region police detained a 35-year-old woman who tried to sell her newborn daughter for 30 thousand US dollars.
According to the criminal police, investigators received information about possible human trafficking. It turned out that the woman, shortly before giving birth, began looking for buyers for her child.
After the birth of her daughter on May 1, the woman moved on to implementing her intentions. She agreed to sell the baby to a resident from the Bilopol community, planning to register fictitious paternity.
At the first stage of the deal, the woman received a $1,000 deposit. However, law enforcement officers detained her when she received the main part—$29,900.
The issue of reporting the woman to suspicion under Part 3 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (human trafficking) is currently being resolved. Investigative actions are ongoing, and the police are establishing all the details of the crime and the possible participation of other persons.
