A scandal broke out in Kyiv: Klitschko ‘supports his people’ after a party with alcohol on the Day of Mourning

A new scandal has erupted in Kyiv, involving the activities of local authorities. After a high-profile party organized by Kyiv City State Administration officials on the Day of National Mourning, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko seems to be trying to protect those involved in the incident, rather than punish them.

Klitschko added a stage to the new draft decision to dismiss the party participants, for consideration by a commission headed by Igor Opadchy. It is worth noting that this commission has no connection with the situation, and after the end of its leader’s parliamentary term, it lost its legitimacy. This looks like an attempt to drag out the process and avoid responsibility.

The mayor’s decision not to dismiss the key figures in the scandal—Povoroznyk and Repik—but to send them on vacation is particularly indignant. Instead of punishment or suspension, they were given the opportunity to rest after the party.
