O.Torvald frontman Zhenya Galich has started a solo career: a new project and the composition ”Lift”
Zhenya Galich, the leader of the band O.Torvald, presented his new solo project, which results from personal changes caused by recent years, particularly service in the Armed Forces and internal development.
On May 14, he released his first single, “Elevator,” and a video. This song is about the experiences when a person is left alone with himself in a closed space with no way to escape.
“This track reflects my feelings during a trip in an elevator, when time rushes forward, not allowing me to stop. This is a conversation with my true “I”, which was previously trapped in the darkness of fears and insecurity. On the final floor, I leave the old version of myself,” comments Galich.
The solo project has a different sound and approach. If O. Torvald is associated with freedom, then Zhenya’s new work is more focused on romance, humanity, and intimacy, conveying bright, euphoric emotions.
Unlike group recordings, where songs are created collectively, in a solo project, Zhenya realizes all the ideas independently: He plays synthesizers, drums, bass guitars, and records vocals. He only involves sound producers to bring his ideas to perfection.
The clip for “Lift” was shot by director Oleksandr Kakhovka in Rivne with the support of the production company YUZHANE PRODUCTION. A special moving elevator scenery was created for the video. Preparation for the shooting lasted a week, and the process itself lasted one day.
In the clip, Zhenya appears in various images, each adding new shades to the perception of the song. The latex costume, which became a bright accent of the video, is especially memorable.
The O. Torvald band also continues its activities. This year, they celebrate their 20th anniversary, prepare a new album, and actively perform.
“O.Torvald is my family. We feel comfortable together. However, each of us also develops our solo projects and supports each other,” notes Zhenya.
The first live performance of the song “Lift” will occur on May 25 in Lviv and May 27-28 in Kyiv.
