iPhones will become more expensive: Apple hinted at high prices in the fall

Apple plans to launch a new iPhone series in the fall of 2025 and prices are expected to increase compared to previous models. As The Wall Street Journal notes, citing sources in the company, the price increase may be due to new features and an “innovative” smartphone design, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.

Apple does not comment on whether the price increase is related to US trade tariffs on goods from China, although most iPhones are manufactured there.

The cost increase is related to the company’s need to maintain profitability, as supplies from China are now at risk due to the tariff war. Production is being partially moved to India, but there are problems with capacity, especially for Pro models. The possibility of transferring production to the US is also being considered, but this will require a long time.

Apple’s current expenses have already increased: in the first quarter of 2025 alone, the company spent an additional $900 million due to trade restrictions. In this regard, the price increase has become necessary to maintain financial positions.

At the moment, the base price of the iPhone 16 in the US is $799, while the Pro Max starts at $1,199. The prices of the new models will be known in the fall of 2025.
