Control over pensioners and social assistance recipients: key dates

The initiative that was announced arose in connection with the transfer of most functions related to the accrual and payment of social assistance from the Ministry of Social Policy to the Pension Fund. A blogger from the YouTube channel “Narodna Dumka”, which has over 1.2 million subscribers, notes that the Pension Fund of Ukraine is already responsible for 99% of social payments in the country.

The primary purpose of identification is to ensure that social assistance reaches those who are actually entitled to it, as well as to prevent cases of illegal accruals.

The identification process will vary for different categories of the population. Most people will undergo an automatic check based on data from banks, applications to the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s service centers, or “transparent offices”. Many will not even notice that such a process is taking place.

For those who cannot be automatically verified, there are several options for self-confirmation:

1. Online through the Pension Fund’s personal account using “Diya.Pidisu” or video call with a consultant.
2. Personal application to any Pension Fund service center.
3. Through the bank where the person receives social benefits.
4. For citizens abroad, through the consulates of Ukraine.

The author of the blog warns that some recipients may miss important messages, so he advises carefully checking SMS and email messages. This is especially true for those whose benefits are set for a limited period; in these cases, there will be no automatic extension, and they will need to contact the Pension Fund to reissue the benefit.

On October 18, it became known that even with minor changes in the financial situation, subsidies may be canceled, a warning also issued by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
