Gunshot wound on the Rylsk-Khomutovka highway: Russian general in Moscow hospital

As a result of the fire damage on the Rylsk-Khomutovka highway, a Russian general, who is the deputy commander of the Sever group, was seriously injured.

On the night of August 17, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck an enemy column moving along the highway between Rylsk and Khomutovka in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as well as other sources.

Lieutenant General Esedulla Abachev, deputy commander of the Russian Sever group, was seriously injured during the attack. The victim was urgently taken to the Vishnevsky Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow, where doctors were forced to amputate his arm and leg due to severe injuries.

The Main Intelligence Directorate emphasized that the occupiers will receive a fair response for every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people.

Information about General Abachev

Esedulla Abachev, a native of Dagestan, has been actively involved in military operations against Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion. In May 2022, he was included in the list of persons responsible for crimes against Ukrainians.

He received his military education at the Kharkiv Tank School. He participated in numerous wars waged by the Kremlin, including those in Chechnya, Georgia, and Syria, for which he received numerous awards, including the title of “Hero of Russia.”

After the start of full-scale aggression, Abachev commanded the 2nd Army Corps of the so-called “LPR” and participated in the crimes in Lysychansk. In July 2022, he received the highest military award personally from Putin.

Since March 2024, Abachev has held the position of Deputy Commander of the Leningrad Military District, responsible for offensive operations in the Slobozhansk direction. His last task was to ensure the coverage of the Russian border in the Kursk region.

In addition, the GUR of the Ministry of Defense reported that Russian troops began to actively use a new form of propaganda – staged videos about the alleged capture of Ukrainian settlements.
