Pensioners reminded of 90 days: delay will lead to pension reduction

In Ukraine, many people work conscientiously throughout their lives, but may lose part of their savings due to a simple delay in applying to the Pension Fund.

Under current legislation, if a person does not submit a pension application within 90 days of reaching retirement age, payments will begin only upon application. All accumulated amounts from previous months are canceled.

This means that if a person has reached retirement age, but submits an application, for example, after six months, all the money for this period will already be lost. The Pension Fund will not recalculate for past periods, as such actions are not provided for by law. Therefore, it is essential not to delay submitting documents.

In 2025, the requirements for retirement will remain unchanged: you can retire at 60 years old if the length of service is at least 32 years. People with 22 years of service can apply for a pension at 63, and those who have worked for at least 15 years have the right to retire at 65. These are the minimum requirements, and without proper confirmation of work experience, payments will not be accrued.

Applications can be submitted not only in person at the Pension Fund branches, but also through the official PFU e-services web portal. This allows you to avoid queues and save time, especially for those who live in remote areas.

Experts emphasize that you should not wait until the last moment. It is recommended to prepare documents in advance, a few weeks or even a month before reaching retirement age. This will ensure that payments begin from the first day, and not a single hryvnia will be lost.

Recall that a specific category of pensioners will receive almost 600 UAH of the allowance. This may also apply to notifications of reduced payments for some pensioners and increased costs for others. However, working pensioners are also being prepared for increases: some will receive additional funds automatically, while others must resign to receive increased payments.
