Doctor sentenced to 2.5 years in prison charged with death of ‘Friends’ Chandler

A California court has convicted a doctor for his role in the death of actor Matthew Perry, who was known for his role as Chandler in the TV series “Friends.” Dr. Salvador Plasencia was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for illegally selling medical drugs that caused his death.

The judge, after hearing evidence about the illegal sale of ketamine to the actor, decided to sentence him to 2 years and 6 months in prison. The doctor pleaded guilty during the trial.

Matthew Perry suffered from depression and had legal access to the anesthetic “Ketamine.” However, due to the need for large doses, he turned to a doctor who was involved in the illegal trade in this drug.

In addition to Plasencia, four more people, including another doctor, Perry’s assistant, and two people who administered the fatal dose of ketamine to him, also pleaded guilty. They are due to be sentenced soon.

Matthew Perry died at the age of 54 in his Los Angeles home after an apparent ketamine overdose.

The tragedy not only marked his fame in the entertainment world but also highlighted the serious problems of addiction in the industry.
