”I don’t reject Russians”: Bambie Thug expressed her desire to perform in Russia
Singer Bambie Thug, who represented Ireland at Eurovision 2024, has come under fire after she said she would perform in Russia. In a live TikTok broadcast, the singer addressed her Russian fans, saying she had no intention of ignoring them and that she would perform in Russia if the opportunity arose.
The comments sparked outrage, as Russia was banned from Eurovision in 2022 over its war in Ukraine. The aggressor country has not participated in the contest since then, and many European artists have distanced themselves from any interaction with Russia.
Bambie Thug stressed, “I do not ignore the Russians. If there is an opportunity to perform there, I will be there and many more places,” – confirming her readiness to tour in Russia, which led to a stormy reaction on social networks.
The singer gained popularity through her participation in Eurovision 2024, where she performed the song Doomsday Blue and took sixth place, earning 278 points. After the contest, her statements about Russia called into question the perception of the artist as a public figure amid the war.
It is also worth noting that Eurovision 2026 became the subject of an international scandal due to Israel’s participation, which provoked various reactions among participating countries, including threats of a boycott.
