Bernard Arnault was admitted to the French Academy of Moral and Political Sciences

Bernard Arnault, CEO and founder of LVMH, has been elected a life member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, one of the five academies of the Institut de France.

During the solemn ceremony, the French Minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire, duly recognized Arnaud’s significant contribution to the development of the French fashion industry, stressing that an important part of the country’s cultural identity is hidden behind the external brilliance of this sphere.

Members of the Arnaud family attended the event, including First Lady Brigitte Macron, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, and famous LVMH designers Pharrell Williams, Jonathan Anderson, and Maria Grazia Chiuri.

At the end of the ceremony, Bernard Arnault, whose outfit was complemented by a floral Dior uniform, received a ceremonial sword designed by the jewelry company Chaumet. The sword’s handle was decorated with his children’s initials, and its design drew on the aesthetics of Christian Dior. Albert Einstein’s quote, “Imagination is more important than knowledge,” is inscribed on the sword’s blade.

Arnault also confirmed that the American brand Dior has signed actor Josh O’Connor as its new men’s ambassador. Josh rose to fame for his role as Prince Charles in The Crown and has a long-standing partnership with creative director Jonathan Anderson, who will take over as Dior’s chief creative officer in June 2025.
