Former inspector of the Kyiv region patrol police detained for fraud worth over UAH 8.4 million

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine have announced suspicion against a former law enforcement officer, accused of fraudulently seizing significant funds from citizens.

According to the investigation, in 2025, while serving as a senior inspector at the Kyiv Region Patrol Police Department, this man repeatedly demanded significant sums of money from citizens.

He assured the victims of the possibility of investing these funds in supposedly profitable projects, such as business development, car purchases, or real estate purchases within the framework of state initiatives. To appear reliable, the suspect drew up promissory notes and promised to repay the money with interest.

However, according to law enforcement officers, the funds received were not used for their intended purpose, and the declared projects were never implemented. The money was not returned to the victims.

At the moment, the investigation has recorded at least three people who suffered losses totaling more than 8.4 million hryvnias. At the same time, law enforcement officers are checking information about other possible victims, reports of which indicate that their number may exceed ten people.

The former law enforcement officer was charged with fraud committed on an especially large scale, in accordance with Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the sanctions of this article, the punishment provides for imprisonment for up to 12 years, with confiscation of property.
