“Football is my passion”: the legendary Dynamo player hinted at a return and spoke about what is holding him back now

Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko, the legendary former Dynamo Kyiv footballer and former coach of the Ukrainian national team, unexpectedly spoke about a possible return to professional football.

He noted that he does not rule out such a possibility. Mykhaylychenko shared his feelings about the past years in sports, admitting that they still evoke strong emotions in him and thoughts about a new stage in his career. Although this stage will not necessarily involve playing on the field, it will remain within the framework of football.

“Nostalgia is a pleasant feeling. From time to time, I remember positive moments, both as a player and as a coach,” he noted.

Mykhaylychenko emphasized that a specific position is not important to him – the main thing is that he can help Ukrainian football and remain part of this process.

“For now, the most important thing is to survive this terrible war, and then look to the future. Football is my life, and I will always be a part of it in one form or another,” the former footballer said in an interview.

Alexey Mykhailichenko’s career is impressive in scope: he played for Dynamo, Italian club Sampdoria, and Scottish club Rangers. As part of Dynamo, he won the USSR title three times and the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1986. He also achieved success with various teams, winning the 1988 Olympics and finishing as a silver medalist at Euro-88.
