Negotiations with Dmitriev in Miami: expert explains which deals are concluded without Ukraine’s knowledge

In his blog, the expert reported on important details of Dmitriev’s meeting with US representatives. According to him, they discussed the possibility of lifting or restricting sanctions on Russian energy resources. He noted that the United States is aware of Russia’s importance on the world stage. This process is ongoing: first, Trump is talking to Putin; then Reuters publishes this information; and recently, Bessent also gave an interview, after which Dmitriev visited Miami, where he met with Witkoff and Kushner.

The expert stated that negotiations among the US, Ukraine, and Russia are delayed due to the conflict in the Middle East, yet the meeting with Dmitriev still took place. “Putin sees his opportunity to get out of isolation due to the prolongation of the war in the Middle East. Although oil prices are not currently rising, market risks remain. Dmitriev noted that the possible lifting of sanctions and economic projects between the US and Russia were discussed, but Ukraine was not in these discussions. This is undoubtedly an important point,” commented Oleksandr Musienko.

At the moment, according to him, Putin hopes that the US will lift or limit sanctions, then put pressure on European countries amid the energy crisis to resume trade with Russia. This, according to the expert, also means continued pressure on Ukraine, in particular due to the lack of missiles for air defense systems.

“Ukraine has demonstrated that any agreements that are discussed without its participation cannot be implemented. This must be constantly reminded to our American allies,” concluded Musienko.
