Parents’ arguments about the temperature at school: when children get too warm
The mother of a child who recently moved to Ivano-Frankivsk region from a front-line city spoke about the conditions at the new school. As it turned out, the air temperature in her daughter’s classroom reaches 27°C, which exceeds the permissible sanitary standards for educational institutions.
The woman turned to the school administration with a proposal to turn off the heating, but received a negative reaction from other parents in the chat. “We moved to Ivano-Frankivsk, the child went to the 4th grade. I wrote in the chat that the temperature was too high. However, I received a response that we ‘came in a hurry’ and it was better for us to go back,” Darya Rudko reported on the social network Threads, adding screenshots of the correspondence.
Social media users were outraged by the described situation and highlighted the violation of sanitary standards:
“A temperature of 27° in a classroom is unacceptable. There are sanitary standards that the school must adhere to. Perhaps the teacher is not ventilating the room”,
“Even in hospitals the temperature is lower”,
“How can children remain attentive in classes at such a temperature?”
The network also emphasized that the author of the post should avoid conflicts and act based on facts. If the situation does not change, it is worth considering the possibility of transferring the child to another school.
“Do not stoop to the level of aggression of others. If you feel that you are having a hard time, perhaps you should change the situation. But do not rule out the possibility of improving relations, no matter how strange it may sound,” the comments advise.
According to the Sanitary Regulations, the temperature in classrooms should be +17–20°C, in gyms – +15–17°C, in libraries – +16–18°C, in medical offices – +21–23°C. This is an important aspect for ensuring comfortable conditions for learning.
