The platoon commander will be brought to court for negligence and the loss of drones in the amount of UAH 1.5 million
The State Bureau of Investigation discovered a case of official negligence of a serviceman, which led to serious financial losses due to the disappearance of combat drones. The indictment has already been sent to the court.
The investigation established that in the summer of 2025, a military unit in Donetsk received FPV drones for operational tasks, but the platoon commander did not ensure proper control over their accounting and preservation.
As a result, 84 drones were lost, which caused losses in the amount of about 1.5 million hryvnias for the state.
Later, as part of another criminal proceeding related to the illegal trafficking of weapons, representatives of the SBI discovered and seized these drones. After confirming their ownership, all 84 units of equipment were returned to the military unit.
This made it possible to restore the unit’s resources and reduce the risk of further losses.
The platoon commander was charged with negligent attitude to military service, which led to grave consequences in wartime conditions (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). If found guilty, he faces up to eight years in prison.
Procedural management in this case is carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Eastern region.
