Everyday Mistakes: What Unknown Ways Are Harming Our Pets
Your love for your pet is evident: you feed it on time, take it to the vet, and are convinced that everything is fine.
However, your pet may not be as happy as you think. Why? There are things that we usually do not pay attention to.
1. A bowl of water in the corner of the kitchen – is it convenient? Not for a pet!
Have you noticed that your dog or cat is cautious about drinking water or ignoring the bowl? The thing may be its location. Dogs instinctively avoid drinking when their back is to an open space, because they feel vulnerable. And cats, in turn, do not like it when their whiskers touch the edges of the dishes. Imagine how you would feel drinking from a glass that hits you in the face!
2. Dry food constantly in the bowl – a buffet or rotten fast food?
Pour more so that your pet can eat when he wants. But food quickly loses its aroma and taste, especially in a hot room. Your cat or dog may lose interest in it or, worse, eat stale food, affecting their health. It is better to give food in portions, fresh and with love.
3. Games “on the dump”: animals are bored just like you
Imagine that you are imprisoned at home without access to entertainment—this is how your pets feel without normal stimulation. A simple walk or a monotonous toy does not bring pleasure. Intellectual toys, new walks, and new smells are what really interest and develop your pets.
4. Communicating in a language that is not theirs
Animals are great at perceiving intonations. If you talk to them in an irritated or angry tone, they will feel stressed, even if your intentions are good. This doesn’t mean you have to be gentle with them all the time, but being respectful and using a warm tone of voice goes a long way in building trust.
Your care is more than just food and a bed.
Pets can’t express their feelings with words, but can show when they’re feeling down. Turning away from their bowl, avoiding being touched, or becoming lethargic are all signs that you’re not paying attention to important details.
Take care of your four-legged friends not only with a kind heart, but also with your mind. After all, you mean the world to them, and they deserve the best.
