People under the rubble, but the weekend is as planned: Kyiv residents were left to deal with the consequences of the rocket attack on their own

In Kyiv, residents faced severe difficulties as a result of the recent Russian attack. In the Svyatoshynskyi district, people who lost their homes were left alone with the consequences of the destruction, as the utilities left them for the weekend. Therefore, the clearing of the rubble fell on the shoulders of volunteers.

Local residents report on social networks that for five days, the rubble has been cleared only by volunteers, who work for free and without equipment. They themselves block the windows and pull out the debris—all at their own expense. Only on Monday, after the weekend, did the utilities appear on the scene, even without the necessary tools, having borrowed shovels from the volunteers. Residents are outraged that these look like “stolen” tools.

“Utilities on the weekend. The housing and communal services are not working. The mayor of the city is not responding. They have abandoned us,” Kyiv residents write on social networks.

Public dissatisfaction has grown so much that the head of the Kyiv City State Administration of Public Works, Roman Tkachenko, has called an urgent meeting of the Kyiv City State Administration of Public Works. According to him, the city cannot wait for someone to take responsibility, and there is no one. This happens during a war, when coordinated work is critically important.

“The situation is threatening. I am grateful to the volunteers. Without their help, it would be tough for us,” said Tkachenko, expressing his dissatisfaction with the work of municipal services, which, in his opinion, are losing control and responsibility.

Recall that Kyiv recently suffered from a brutal rocket attack, which resulted in nine deaths and numerous injuries. It was also previously reported that disputes in the Kyiv City State Administration occurred during the mourning period, when some officials celebrated, and festivities aggravated the situation during the mourning period.
